When Humble Pie formed in 1969, everybody had something of a profile: Marriott had been in the Small Faces guitarist/singer Peter Frampton, fresh from the Herd, was known both for his chops and his good looks (the UK press called him the “face of ‘68”). Japanese pressings will nearly always include a lyric booklet or fold-out lyric sheet. It was also the sound of a band in transition, both in sound and personnel. Non-album tracks and exclusive mixes often feature and there are a huge amount of 'Japan-Only' releases that do not have an equivalent release elsewhere in the world. Japanese CD albums often benefit from extra music and new video-style content, to further entice the Japanese public to buy their native release and not an import. In recent years we have seen the obi-strip occasionally replaced with a sleeve sticker, no less attractive and equally unique to the Japanese pressing. And, as this information is intended to be read in the home market, it’s all printed in Japanese kanji and ~kana script! Whilst they are safely sealed on new release CD’s they are often discarded once opened, so they should be considered a real bonus when intact on out-of-print CD’s. An amazing amount of information is packed onto this little wraparound piece of paper, often noting special tracks, concert dates, discography information and release anniversaries. The term 'obi-strip' is derived from the name of the piece of wide fabric - the obi - that a geisha woman wears around her waist over the traditional Kimono dress. The inclusion of the famous 'obi-strip' not only adds a uniquely intriguing aspect, but is also a great marketing tool for the Japanese labels. From the visual delights of the artwork and packaging, to the content itself, you will without doubt get your money's worth here. Known as a culture for elaborate and excessive packaging, their approach to the CD album is no exception. No-one packages a CD album quite like the Japanese. As a whole, this is a crisp, cleanly recorded, attractive-sounding album, totally atypical of the Humble Pie catalog, but well worth a listen. Peter Frampton's contributions here foreshadow the acoustic-based music he would make as a solo artist a few years later. On "The Light of Love," Marriott even plays sitar. "The Sad Bag of Shaky Jake" is a typical Marriott country ditty, similar to those he would include almost as a token on each of the subsequent studio albums, and "Every Mother's Son" is structured as a folk tale. There is a gently rocking cover of Buddy Holly's "Heartbeat," and a couple of electrified Steve Marriott numbers, but the overall feel is definitely more of the country than the town or city. HUMBLE PIE Town And Country (2006 Japanese exclusive issue limited edition 13-track 'K2 High Definition Coding' CD album originally released in 1969 on the Immediate label, the group's 2nd album saw them pursue a more acoustic leaning, with Peter Frampton supplying more guitar as Steve Marriott moved over to keyboards, includes 2 BONUS TRACKS, superbly presented in mini LP-style card sleeve with obi strip - sealed!)Īnyone who thinks of Humble Pie solely in terms of their latter-day boogie rock will be greatly surprised with this, the band's second release, for it is almost entirely acoustic. That would mean that God, and Jesus, who know everything that is about to happen, are accessories to every child-murder, rape or kidnapping that happens anywhere on the planet.ĥ. I can’t imagine a single human that would intentionally give cancer to a child, or even ALLOW them to get cancer if they could prevent it.Īlso, in a court of law, if you know about a crime that is about to be committed, and don’t try to report or prevent it, you’re considered an accessory to that crime. If God is All Loving, how could He allow Children to get cancer? Heck compared to God, ANYONE on earth would have more love and compassion for children. How is this a god of love?Īnd really, which is worse, Hitler killing 10,000,000 people (Jews, Homosexuals, atheists, gypsies, etc.) or God keeping hundreds of millions of people alive just to torture them for eternity some simply for not believing in Him, or even a particular version of Him? According to the teachings of Christianity, all of the Jews that Hitler tortured and killed were then promptly sent to Hell for not believing that Jesus was the Christ/Savior and according to the Bible, these are God’s Chosen People!Ĥ. There is no lesson to be learned or benefited from, with this type of punishment. Here, God is punishing sinners just for the sake of inflicting pain and suffering forever. How could an All-Loving God send ANYONE to hell? Remember, He is supposed to love us more than any parent ever loved their child and note that He isn’t using Hell as a remedial, instructional punishment like a parent punishes a parent punished a child in order to teach them to behave better. Moreover, why did God put the Tree-of-Knowledge in the Garden of Eden in the first place? Especially if He knew what was going to happen? Isn’t he supposed to know everything that will ever happen? It would have been so easy just to place it on the other side of the world or on the Moon for that matter.ģ. Also if God had explained to Adam and Eve what right and wrong was before they ate of the fruit so that they would understand why it was wrong to eat the apple, then wouldn’t He have essentially given them the Knowledge that he had just forbidden them to have? Remember THIS is the Original Sin, the basis for the need for salvation in all of Christianity. In the Bible, in the Garden of Eden, if the fruit of the Tree-of-Knowledge contains the knowledge of Good/Evil and Right/Wrong, then how could Adam and Eve have known it was “wrong” to disobey God and eat the fruit before they did? They couldn’t have known what right and wrong meant. Is it just because your parents told you that it was true? And that most of the people you know think that it is true? Really, think about it, what real, extra-biblical basis do you have to believe it is the work of a God? And if you’re considering answering “I just feel that it’s true”, go ready my article entitled “Feelings aren’t facts”.Ģ. He’s a ruthless dictator and the book is full of His atrocities. Further, if you’ve read it, you know that it’s not a good book that is, god doesn’t exactly set a good example. They can’t ALL be true because they contradict each other. What, exactly, is your basis for believing that the Bible is True not necessarily the word of god, but true? Remember, your answer can’t be “Because the Bible says it’s true”, ANY book would be true by that measure, and any religion would be true by that measure. I hope that if they honestly consider these questions they might realize for themselves just how much of their own skepticism and rationality they have been sidelining.ġ. And it’s not for my own edification that I ask them, but for theirs. With that in mind, I have drawn up several questions that I would like believers (in this case Christian believers) to ponder. However, what continues to amaze me is that these questioners, who are VERY happy to question my beliefs, so rarely question their own. I don’t really mind, I realize that I might very well be the first atheist that they’ve ever met, and I’m happy to put the lie to some of the church-given notions about us. It’s funny that whenever I tell a believer that I’m an atheist, they always start asking me questions. Other than that I love it! If you like these types of puzzle games then you’d really enjoy this game. So I just open the game every day and earn my tokens to save up for a bit and then play until I run out, and then do the same thing over again. The puzzles don’t all cost the same amount of tokens to unlock so they can go pretty quick. There’s packages you can buy but I play free games because they’re free, not so I can spend money. It’s kind of annoying because I would play these all day but I constantly run out of tokens and have to wait until the next day for the daily reward or watch a bunch of ads for one token each and you can only watch 8 ads per day as a way to earn tokens. You can earn hundreds of coins in a short amount of time, but hardly any tokens which you need to unlock each puzzle. That is if you have enough tokens, which is one of my minor complaints about this game. *well, as far as I’ve gone, this is what I’ve found to be the case, anyway.Įdit: I’ve now completed the “winter” puzzle and still have had no need to resort to the use of hints.įor a while, I found these types of games almost impossible to do because I just had a hard time learning strategies to use while playing them, but now that I know a few tricks I absolutely love them! This one in particular because there are so many that range from super easy to super hard and you can just play forever. Brown is…well…brown.īut my thanks to the developers for making this game so enjoyable, challenging, and somehow always solvable*. It would be nice too if we could change the color of the boxes as well. The bold dark brown Xs as they stand are just a bit too distracting. The only change I would like to see is for the Xs (that you put in the squares) to be either much thinner or greatly toned down to like a 30% value. In Picture Cross, I completed every one of the summer puzzles without ever needing a clue! That doesn’t mean I didn’t have to start over from scratch a few times I’m not saying I don’t make plenty of errors, but when I patiently went back and reworked the puzzles (often more than a few times!) I found I could complete every one of the puzzles from the simplest to the trickiest without resorting to any kind of clue whatsoever! That, to me, puts this game way above all others in this category. What’s so amazing? Well, I’ve played hundreds of these “nonogram” type puzzles, and it seems, eventually, you’ll find a puzzle in a series that you will be forced to use a clue or two in order to solve the puzzle. especially with it being a little more expensive than other apps, I wish there were more options. I hate to admit how regularly I purchase tokens for this game. Because I hate that I have to do the easy ones just to get to the next pack. For instance, one pack that contains only hard or super-hard puzzles. My only recommendation would be to offer packs that are all one specific level. Which, in my opinion, is odd because if you’ve made it almost to the end, it means you’re no longer a beginner… the puzzles shouldn’t be getting easier. Now that I’m getting close to the end of the packs, I’ve noticed there are less “super-hard” & “15x15” puzzles. And I have to admit, once I began playing this game, I saw the 15x15 puzzles and was intimidated! I thought I’d never be able to start them let alone complete them! But now that I’ve been playing, the hard and super-hard puzzles are the ones I prefer! Which brings me to my one complaint… or more of a recommendation. Also, I don’t know if it’s because I’ve purchased tokens, but there are no ads in between games, which is amazing! Considering a lot of the puzzles take more than 10 tokens. I play so much that the 10 tokens they give you to play is not enough. I have became obsessed with this game! I love it! The only con I have is that I’m spending money for tokens, lol. Obsessed!!! It gets better the more players you add to the mix, but it’s completely playable with two people, because it adds an extra “lie,” on its own to keep you on your toes. Like any lie-based board game it’s a blast to play with friends, as Fibbage shows you what everyone’s fib was at the end of a round, and the satisfaction you’ll get from successfully passing off a lie is amazing. I was able to get the game up and running on multiple tablets, smartphones, and PCs, and it’s a good game to spring on people since they will likely always have their phones on them. Game and Legal Info Fibbage is the lying, bluffing, fib-till-you-win multiplayer trivia party game from the makers of YOU DON’T KNOW JACK Play with 2-8 players Fool your friends with your lies, avoid theirs, and find the (usually outrageous) truth. All you have to do is go to on basically any device, then enter your name and the “room code” that each round displays on the screen - that’s it. It’s not all niche trivia, and I found myself knowing roughly one answer every three rounds or so. So for a question like “this strange fishing rod sold at Hank’s Goods in Camden, Maine is comprised of 70% ” - you might come up with “fish bones” or “endangered redwood.” The real answer is usually something odd (but not always), and in this case, it’s carrots. The concept is very simple - at the start of each round, all players will come up with a convincing “lie” to add to the multiple choice pool. It also has a rather unique control method in that all eight players use smart phones, tablets, or PCs to play, so you don’t have to rustle up a ton of expensive controllers. Billed as a “fibbing” party game (the likes of which I’m sure you’ve seen before), this one has a small twist to it - it’s developed and narrated by the folks at Jackbox Games, the studio responsible for You Don’t Know Jack. I was randomly flipping through my email last week and saw a peculiar Xbox One release - a little party game called Fibbage. |
